Job summary

Tunnel to Towers Foundation is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Attorney to support its mission of honoring first responders and aiding veterans. You will work under the GC/AVP and lead high‑level projects, drafting and negotiating contracts, and guiding legal strategy across departments.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of legal experience, a NY bar license, and broad knowledge across contracts, real estate, IP, employment and governance.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house team.
• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school; active NY license.
• Experience in contracts, real estate, employment, IP, trusts, entertainment, and governance.
• Non-profit sector experience preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills and ethics.

Description

The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans.

The Foundation seeks an experienced attorney for the position of Senior Staff Attorney. Under the supervision of the Executive Vice President/General Counsel and Associate Counsel, the Senior Staff Attorney will take on high-level responsibility and act as lead on various projects. A successful candidate will have 5- 7 years’ experience in the legal field and serving in a management role.

Requirements

• Work closely with the General Counsel and Associate Counsel to ensure the Foundation is safeguarded and protected in all dealings.
• Provide legal counsel and guidance on a broad range of subject matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts.
• Represent the Foundation and navigate conversations, both internally and externally, regarding legal matters.
• Liaise with outside counsel.
• Maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively with all departments throughout the Foundation.
• Represent the values and brand of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
• Operate in accordance with the goals, needs, and mission of the Foundation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house team and serving in a leadership role.
• Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school; 5-7 years of legal experience; and active license to practice law in New York.
• Extensive knowledge of various areas of law including: contracts, real estate, employment, intellectual property, trusts, entertainment, and corporate governance. Non-profit experience strongly preferred.
• Comprehensive command of contractual and legal language, and experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to negotiate and navigate conversations dealing with high level projects and sensitive matters.
• Ability to establish and maintain trust and relationships both internally and externally.
• Unquestionable ethics and integrity.
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Must be a team player and work collaboratively with the EVP, Legal Team, and various departments throughout the Foundation.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, handle significant responsibility.
• Must be detail oriented and organized, and someone who can complete tasks and projects from start to finish.
• Strong work ethic.
