Tunnel to Towers Foundation seeks an in-house Counsel in New York to draft and review contracts related to mortgage payoffs, and oversee residential transfers into irrevocable Trusts. You will coordinate with outside counsel and internal teams to ensure timely closing and compliance.

The role requires a JD, NY Bar admission (or waiver), and 1–3 years of experience in contracts and real estate work. Experience in estate planning is a plus, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• JD required.
• New York State Bar Admission or ability to waive in as In-House Counsel designation.
• 1-3 years of experience at a law firm or other in-house position.
• Excellent drafting and review skills; comprehensive command of contractual and legal language.
• Prior experience handling real estate transactions a plus.
• Prior estate planning experience a plus.
• Maintaining Foundation’s commercial insurance obligations.
• Excellent contract drafting and review skills.
• Prior experience in real estate and/or estate planning preferred, but not required.

Responsabilités

• Draft and review contracts for mortgage payoffs, vendor & service agreements, and miscellaneous contracts pertaining to Foundation’s premier programs.
• Direct outside counsel, title officers, escrow agents, and real estate agents throughout residential transfers of property into irrevocable Trusts, ensuring timely completion.
• Assist in management of Foundation’s commercial properties and commercial tenancies; support land acquisition and construction departments in legal issues, review of real estate documents, and insurance matters.
• Facilitate onboarding process of program recipients and effective communication between liaison, legal, and financial departments.
• Communicate regularly with financial institutions to ensure seamless applications of recipients’ payments and with program recipients to foster clear communication.
• Assist legal team with daily functions of legal department, including drafting and reviewing contracts, researching statutes, and facilitating payments and administrative tasks.
