Job summary

RumbergerKirk seeks an experienced paralegal to join our civil defense team in Tallahassee. You’ll work closely with attorneys on auto negligence, trucking, premises liability and school board defense matters, supporting case development through trial.

You’ll manage case files, draft discovery requests and pleadings, review medical records, prepare chronologies, and coordinate with witnesses and experts. You’ll also prepare trial notebooks and exhibits, track time, and travel as needed to

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a law firm environment, preferably civil defense.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with paralegal certification or equivalent.
• Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in a timely manner.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage and organize case files, including obtaining, reviewing, summarizing, and maintaining key documents
• Support discovery efforts by drafting discovery requests and pleadings, organizing production, and indexing records
• Review, analyze, and summarize medical records; prepare detailed chronologies and narrative summaries
• Assist with deposition and discovery investigation, including preparing deposition summaries and coordinating with witnesses
• Coordinate and communicate with attorneys regarding deadlines, depositions, mediations, and hearings
• Prepare materials for litigation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, disclosures, and demonstrative aids
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations for mediations and attend mediations and trial alongside attorneys
• Travel as needed to attend depositions, meet with witnesses, and visit locations
• Utilize and maintain case management and litigation support tools
• Track billable time in accordance with client guidelines
• Collaborate with attorneys to support case strategy and trial preparation
• Provide support across the team, including training new hires and coverage as needed
