Job summary

Rivian is hiring Automation Technicians for our Normal, IL facility. You will focus on improving robotic processes in the paint shop through troubleshooting, programming, and problem solving.

The role reports to the Lead Paint Engineer and requires adapting to multiple shifts and zones within the plant. We seek candidates with robotics programming experience, ABB knowledge, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Can read and understand Work instructions.
• Can provide training to others as Rivian brings on additional help.
• Understands FIFO principles of stock rotation and shelf life.
• Capable of working with other groups (quality, maintenance, engineering) to achieve Rivian goals.
• Minimum of 1 year experience programming industrial robots; ABB training provided by Rivian or 5+ years manual painting experience.
• Must demonstrate competence of ABB simulation software within 1 year of starting.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot fluid delivery systems in paint process.
• Modify programs to recover from DT and ensure quality issues are addressed promptly.
• Interpret engineering process sheets and apply correct paint layers.
• Create standard AM/PM and operating documentation.
• Perform PMs of application equipment and robot maintenance.
• Support line during breaks and operate lift trucks as required.
