Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related science or technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in packaging and transportation of hazardous and/or radioactive materials.
• Knowledge of U.S. DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR Parts 171-180) and NRC transportation requirements (10 CFR Part 71).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for packaging and transportation, providing authoritative technical guidance on package selection, qualification, and compliant use.
• Ensure all packaging used for shipments is compliant with applicable domestic regulations, including U.S. DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR Parts 171-180) and NRC packaging and transportation requirements (10 CFR Part 71).
• Ensure all international shipments comply with applicable international regulations and standards, including IAEA SSR-6, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and IMDG Code.
• Maintain active awareness of packaging certificate status and expiration dates and initiate renewal or replacement actions.
• Interface with carriers, freight forwarders, and consignees to ensure compliant and efficient shipments.
