Job summary

CJ Schwan’s is seeking a Senior Director of Packaging Engineering to lead strategy, development, and performance of packaging materials for our U.S. food portfolio. You will build capabilities to protect quality, enable innovation, and drive sustainability while partnering across the organization to bring ideas to market.

Travel: 30%. Lead enterprise packaging strategy, select and test materials, set standards and governance, and collaborate with R&D, Operations, Procurement, Quality, Marketing,

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive packaging development and leadership.
• Experience leading packaging innovation and cross-functional initiatives in the food industry.
• Experience supporting packaging performance in frozen food applications.
• Strong knowledge of food-contact regulations and packaging sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the enterprise packaging materials strategy across our portfolio.
• Lead the selection, development, testing, and commercialization of packaging materials.
• Establish packaging standards, specifications, testing methodologies, and governance processes.
• Partner with R&D, Operations, Procurement, Quality, Marketing, and suppliers to identify new materials and solutions.
• Drive packaging optimization to reduce cost and maintain protection and consumer satisfaction.
• Champion sustainability initiatives including recyclability and regulatory compliance.
• Build and inspire a high-performing team with strategic guidance.
