Job summary

Blueland, a mission-driven consumer-packaged goods company, seeks a Senior Manager of Packaging Engineering and Procurement to lead technical packaging development and strategic sourcing. You will drive concepts through commercialization, ensuring packaging meets sustainability, protection, cost and supply goals.

The role combines engineering excellence with commercial sourcing, reporting to the Director of Procurement & Technical Services, and shaping supplier strategy and cost optimization

Qualifications

• 7+ years of packaging engineering, development or related CPG experience.
• Experience developing primary, secondary and tertiary packaging with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills with proven cost savings.

Responsibilities

• Own packaging development from concept to commercialization for launches and line extensions.
• Lead packaging trials, validations and performance testing for all packaging levels.
• Collaborate with R&D, Operations, Quality, Marketing and external partners to translate requirements into robust packaging solutions.
• Communicate tradeoffs focusing on sustainability, cost, quality, speed and supply continuity.
• Develop and maintain packaging standards, specs, BOMs, test protocols and acceptance criteria.
• Own strategic sourcing and procurement for packaging including supplier selection and negotiations.
• Manage supplier network for cost, capability and continuity as Blueland grows.
• Lead packaging RFPs and negotiate improved commercial terms.
• Build multi-year savings and value engineering initiatives across materials and packaging systems.
• Stay updated on materials, sustainability standards and packaging regulations.
