Job summary

Target's Downtown Minneapolis campus is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead design and innovation for Target-owned brand packaging across multiple categories.

You will create CAD models and prototypes, stay ahead of materials trends, and analyze cost, sustainability, and guest experience to deliver value.

On-site four days per week and lead multiple projects, presenting findings to packaging leadership and external partners.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Seven to ten years of experience; experience with mass consumer goods preferred.
• Deep expertise in materials, processes and design of paperboard and corrugate retail packaging.
• Knowledge of materials and processes for plastic part production.

Responsibilities

• Research packaging materials, technologies, and industry trends and present opportunities.
• Develop packaging design & innovation strategies across multiple brands and businesses.
• Commercialize innovative packaging solutions in partnership with category packaging engineers.
• Create CAD models and prototypes and test them with end users.
• Analyze data on cost, sustainability, damage, and guest experience.
• Independently manage multiple projects, prioritize requests, and meet deadlines.
• Build and maintain strong connections with the packaging industry and supplier partners.
• Prepare and deliver professional presentations to business leaders and external partners.
