Job summary

Mytra is seeking a Packaging Engineer to design, qualify, and own packaging systems across four material paths, ensuring safe movement of hardware from Brisbane, CA to sites worldwide. You'll partner with logistics, sustainment, warehouse and manufacturing teams to define packaging requirements, run ISTA/ASTM testing, and build scalable standards from scratch for future deployment.

This build role emphasizes hands-on development, supplier qualification, and documentation like BOMs and packing

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in industrial or transit packaging engineering
• Experience designing and qualifying packaging for complex hardware such as robotics or precision equipment
• Experience with returnable packaging programs and scale-up

Responsibilities

• Own packaging design and development across four material paths including inbound, outbound, field service, and direct-from-suppliers
• Lead end-to-end returnable packaging program with standards and supplier outsourcing
• Qualify packaging through ISTA/ASTM testing across drop, vibration, compression, and climate scenarios
• Collaborate with logistics, sustainment, warehousing, and manufacturing to define packaging requirements early in design
• Source and manage packaging suppliers for foam, crating, containers, and returnable totes
• Develop and maintain packaging documentation including specs, BOMs, packing instructions, and labeling
• Design field service packaging kits for technicians and ensure usability and return efficiency
• Track packaging performance and drive continuous improvement using data
• Coordinate with logistics and 3PLs to ensure compatibility with carrier requirements and customs
