Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Senior Packaging Component Engineer at our Wilson site to lead component lifecycle management, quality investigations, and line projects. You will coordinate with packaging, device development, and global support teams to drive improvements and successful product launches.

The role requires GMP experience, strong project management, and expertise in design controls, verification, and validation for medical devices and combination products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent with 5+ years in packaging operations or 4+ years with MS.
• Strong background in packaging processes and components.
• Experience in a GMP environment.
• Project management skills and project implementation experience.
• Analytical and decisive with problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis and Lean Six Sigma.
• Technical writing and document review experience (deviations, change requests, SOPs).
• Knowledge of Medical Device and Combination Product requirements, including design control, verification and validation.

Responsibilities

• Author specifications for components with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent performance.
• Work with vendors to develop/test components for qualifications and product launches across global markets.
• Assist with design transfer processes with packaging commercialization and device development teams.
• Act as Change Owner/Project Manager for component changes and site-wide assessments.
• Manage GLAMS workflows for printed component drawings used in global artwork development.
• Troubleshoot line issues related to component performance; work weekends/off-shifts as needed.
• Provide technical support to improve run standards based on component capability.
• Collaborate with Procurement for supplier performance and new vendor introductions.
• Support packaging component changes across the product lifecycle with technical assessments.
