Job summary

Qualifications

• Five+ years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience (Property, General Liability, Inland Marine, BOP/CPP preferred)
• CPCU, CIC or other designations with willingness to continue education
• Strong communication with internal and external contacts
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks

Responsibilities

• Manage renewal book of approx. $7M–$8M and generate about $1.5M new business annually
• Analyze new and renewal business to accept, price, modify, or reject within authority
• Review market conditions to decide coverage offerings or adjustments
• Apply forms, endorsements and deductibles to mitigate risk
• Prepare written reports and lead meetings documenting coverage decisions
• Develop relationships with wholesalers and agents and provide underwriting guidance
• Identify opportunities to grow footprint with wholesalers and customers
• Collaborate with underwriters, marketing, claims, operations, and mgmt on rate/pricing strategies
• Identify growth opportunities within existing and new business sources
• Maintain profitable book within authority using sound underwriting judgment
• Continue industry skills development to meet goals
• Maintain knowledge of market trends, regulatory issues, and innovations
• Interact professionally with colleagues, agents, and customers
