Job summary

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER is seeking engineers to design and manage protection and control for high-voltage substations. You will perform studies, develop settings, and ensure compliance with NERC standards while coordinating with customers and contractors.

The role offers growth through multiple grades (Engineer Assc to Sr) and requires ABET-accredited engineering degrees, and PE licensure or progression towards it. On-site positions include Corpus Christi, TX and Tulsa, OK locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Fundamentals of Engineering exam; PE licensure encouraged.
• ABET accreditation familiarity and licensing processes are preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Perform and Review P&C for 4kV through 765kV substation projects.
• Prepare and review P&C scopes for substation projects.
• Review relay settings and deliverables for substation projects.
• Model system impedances and perform short circuit fault studies.
• Ensure compliance with NERC P&C standards (PRC-023, FAC-008).
• Coordinate with transmission customers and contractors on protection issues.
• Provide engineering support for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Peer review P&C work and oversee outsourcing activities.
