Job summary

Heartland Alliance International’s Marjorie Kovler Center in Chicago is seeking a Sr. Occupational Therapist to deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive OT services for survivors of torture and severe trauma.

The role is embedded within integrated programs and includes supervision of OT students and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. This on-site position supports program development, policy review, grant reporting, and staff training under a bargaining-unit framework.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in OT from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Illinois.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional OT experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with immigrant, refugee, or vulnerable populations.
• Experience providing clinical supervision to OT students per AOTA standards.
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary collaboration in clinical settings.
• Experience working with interpreters is highly desirable.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver trauma-informed, culturally and linguistically responsive OT services on-site, in community settings, and virtually as needed.
• Conduct individual and group assessments and interventions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support participant goals and holistic care.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
• Provide clinical supervision to OT students per AOTA guidelines.
• Participate in program development, including reviewing clinical policies and supporting grant reporting and evaluations.
• Represent the Marjorie Kovler Center in local and national coalitions and partnerships.
• Educate staff, volunteers and external partners on the role of OT in trauma recovery and forced migration contexts.
• Demonstrate adaptability in a cross-cultural environment and ensure licensing compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
