Job summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is recruiting a Senior Database Administrator to manage the agency's databases and coordinate with VITA for a reliable environment. Responsibilities include security, backup, and ongoing maintenance to prevent unplanned downtime.

Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle RAC, Oracle Financial Database, and WebLogic.
• Experience with ASM.
• Experience with Azure Cloud Server.
• Experience with ETL and data pipelines.
• Ability to work in a systems development team and support complex data processing.
• Ability to manage multiple critical deadlines with minimal direction.
• Experience providing responses and documentation for security audits.
• Experience participating in disaster recovery exercises.

Responsibilities

• Manage the physical databases used by VDOE.
• Coordinate with VITA to provide a stable database environment.
• Ensure database security and data backups are compliant.
• Assist with new database requirements and keep technology current.
• Maintain database infrastructure and optimize data structures.
• Perform proactive maintenance to avoid service interruptions.
