Job summary

The Virginia Department of Education in Richmond is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage the physical databases used by VDOE and coordinate with the DBM’s vendor.

You will work with VITA to provide a reliable and stable environment for applications and databases, ensure security and backups, perform upgrades, and develop scalable database structures to support agency needs while meeting disaster-recovery and audit requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle design, RAC, and WebLogic
• Experience with ASM and Azure Cloud Server
• ETL and database pipelines experience
• Ability to work in a systems development team and meet deadlines; support security audits

Responsibilities

• Manage physical databases and vendor coordination (Oracle, VITA)
• Review/renew maintenance contracts to avoid service interruptions
• Perform Oracle DB admin, security remediation, upgrades, patches
• Develop/test database structures to meet system requirements
• Maintain infrastructure and metrics for availability and performance
