Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer (Development & Administration) to join a highly secure government contracting environment supporting enterprise-scale Oracle database platforms and mission-critical data integrations.

The Senior Oracle Database Engineer will be a hands-on technical expert focused on Oracle SQL/PLSQL development, production support, performance tuning, data-feed troubleshooting, and comprehensive database administration within complex enterprise

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Oracle Database in enterprise environments.
• Advanced Oracle SQL/PL/SQL expertise including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and bulk processing.
• Strong performance tuning, wait-event analysis, and indexing strategies.
• Experience with data integrations, data feeds, and enterprise data workflows.
• Hands-on with RAC, Data Guard, RMAN backup/recovery, security and auditing.
• Clearance: TS/SCI with FSP preferred; CompTIA Security+ would be a plus.

Responsibilities

• Debug and resolve complex SQL/PLSQL issues across environments.
• Review and optimize existing SQL/PLSQL code for performance.
• Develop ad hoc queries, scripts, and reports for data analysis and ops.
• Maintain Oracle objects: packages, procedures, functions, triggers, jobs.
• Monitor data feeds via NiFi, AWS, APIs, file transfers.
• Coordinate with DBA, infra, and dev teams for deployments and incidents.
• Perform root-cause analysis for data discrepancies and fixes.
• Document deployment procedures and runbooks; support post-deploy validation.

The Senior Oracle Database Engineer (Development & Administration) will serve as a hands-on technical expert focused on Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development, production support, performance tuning, data-feed troubleshooting, and database administration within complex enterprise environments.

Responsibilities of the Senior Oracle Database Engineer (Development & Administration):

• Debug and resolve complex SQL, PL/SQL, data integrity, and production-processing issues across multiple environments.
• Review, rewrite, refactor, and optimize existing SQL and PL/SQL code to improve maintainability and performance.
• Develop ad hoc queries and scripts for reporting, reconciliation, data analysis, investigations, and operational support requests.
• Maintain and enhance Oracle packages, procedures, functions, triggers, batch jobs, and database interfaces.
• Monitor and support enterprise data feeds involving Oracle databases, Apache NiFi, AWS services, APIs, file transfers, and connected applications.
• Troubleshoot failed integrations and data-processing workflows while coordinating with application, infrastructure, and database teams.
• Perform root-cause analysis and data validation activities to identify and resolve discrepancies between source and target systems.
• Support database deployments, production releases, incident response activities, and post-deployment validation efforts.
• Analyze and tune SQL and PL/SQL workloads using Oracle performance tools and best practices.
• Partner with DBA teams to support Oracle RAC, Data Guard, backup and recovery operations, security, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.

Qualifications of the Senior Oracle Database Engineer (Development & Administration):

• 10+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise solutions utilizing Oracle Database.
• Advanced expertise in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, materialized views, dynamic SQL, collections, bulk processing, and exception handling.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting and debugging complex database applications in development, testing, and production environments.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning, execution-plan analysis, indexing strategies, partitioning, optimizer statistics, concurrency management, and wait-event analysis.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle diagnostic and performance tools including AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF, and Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.
• Experience supporting Apache NiFi data flows, AWS integrations, APIs, file-based interfaces, and enterprise data-feed monitoring.
• Working knowledge of Oracle RAC, RMAN backup and recovery, Oracle Data Guard, database security, auditing, and database-object management.
• Experience with source control, release management processes, code reviews, deployment planning, and rollback procedures.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Active CompTIA Security+ certification required.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata, Database Vault, Label Security, and large-scale data migration is highly desirable.
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) clearance required.

Compensation for the Senior Oracle Database Engineer (Development & Administration) includes:

• Salary range: $120,000 - $220,000
