Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to join a government contracting and technology organization, delivering enterprise-scale database applications and data integration platforms onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD. You will be a hands-on expert focused on Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development, production support, performance tuning, and cross-functional collaboration.

This role requires TS/SCI with FS Poly and a minimum of 10 years of Oracle experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise Oracle solutions.
• Advanced expertise with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, dynamic SQL, collections, bulk processing, exception handling, and database APIs.
• Strong experience troubleshooting complex Oracle database applications, performance issues, batch processing, ETL workflows, and production incidents.
• Hands-on with Oracle performance/diagnostic tools (AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF, OEM).
• Experience with Oracle RAC, RMAN backup/recovery, Data Guard, security, auditing, and release management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Active CompTIA Security+ certification is listed.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata and large-scale data migrations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and interfaces.
• Debug production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve data processing, integration, and application-support challenges across Oracle, NiFi, AWS, APIs, and file-based feeds.
• Create ad hoc queries and scripts for reporting, reconciliation, data validation, investigations, and operational support.
• Support deployments, performance tuning initiatives, and ongoing production operations with database and infrastructure teams.
• Document technical solutions, deployment processes, troubleshooting procedures, and runbooks for enterprise environments.

The Senior Oracle Database Engineer will serve as a hands‑on technical expert focused on Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development, production support, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and data integration support across complex enterprise environments. The Senior Oracle Database Engineer role is a long term open ended contract opportunity and requires you to work onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD. TS/SCI with FS Poly is Required.

Responsibilities of the Senior Oracle Database Engineer:

• Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and database interfaces.
• Debug production issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve data‑processing, integration, and application‑support challenges across Oracle, Apache NiFi, AWS services, APIs, and file‑based data feeds.
• Create ad hoc queries and scripts for reporting, reconciliation, data validation, investigations, and operational support activities.
• Support application releases, database deployments, performance tuning initiatives, and ongoing production operations while partnering with database and infrastructure teams.
• Document technical solutions, deployment processes, troubleshooting procedures, and operational runbooks to support enterprise environments.

Requirements of the Senior Oracle Database Engineer:

• 10+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise solutions utilizing Oracle Database technologies.
• Advanced expertise with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, dynamic SQL, collections, bulk processing, exception handling, and database APIs.
• Strong experience troubleshooting complex Oracle database applications, performance issues, batch processing environments, ETL workflows, and production incidents.
• Hands‑on experience with Oracle performance and diagnostic tools including AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF, and Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.
• Experience supporting data integrations utilizing Apache NiFi, AWS services, APIs, file‑based transfers, and enterprise application ecosystems.
• Working knowledge of Oracle RAC, RMAN backup and recovery, Oracle Data Guard, database security, auditing, schema management, and release management processes.
• Active CompTIA Security+ certification and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata, Database Vault, Oracle Label Security, and large‑scale data migration initiatives is highly preferred.

• TS/SCI with FSP required.

Compensation for the Senior Oracle Database Engineer:

• $130,000 - $230,000
