Job summary

Expert Technology Services in Seattle seeks a senior software engineer to lead microservices and APIs using Java 8+, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). You will own the full development lifecycle and mentor cross-functional teams.

The role requires active leadership in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, defining scopes, specs, estimates, and clear communication of requirements to developers; deliver high-quality, tested features and fixes.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java 8+ and Spring Boot in a microservices architecture.
• Hands-on knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and delivery of microservices and APIs.
• Actively participate and provide leadership in Agile/Scrum ceremonies
• Define project scopes, technical specifications, and estimate required resources
• Ensure clear articulation and communication of requirements to development teams
• Deliver well-designed, fully tested features, enhancements, and fixes
• Take ownership of the full application development lifecycle and ongoing support
• Define and document best practices for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
• Drive continuous improvement by researching and presenting new technologies and alternative solutions
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance
• Provide subject matter expertise, technical direction, and guidance for complex engagements
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and on-target delivery
• Utilize expertise in Java 8+, Spring Boot, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/Redhat), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
• Implement and maintain automated testing using tools like JBehave, Cucumber, Selenium, and Junit
• Work within Agile/Scrum teams, participating in backlog refinement, standups, code reviews, and using tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps
• (Desired) Experience with streaming/messaging platforms (Kafka, NATS, Kinesis, Event Hub), monitoring tools (Datadog, New Relic), Elastic Search, and API management (Apigee)
