Job summary

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable backend applications and distributed systems.
• Remain hands-on with Java and Spring Boot development.
• Design and build microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven solutions.
• Drive architecture involving Kafka, messaging, caching, concurrency, and distributed processing.
• Work closely with enterprise architects and clearly explain and defend technical design decisions.
• Coordinate with cross-functional, integration, DevOps, QA, product, and offshore teams.
• Own delivery from requirements and system design through development, testing, release, and production support.
• Design for scalability, performance, high availability, fault tolerance, security, and observability.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, design reviews, mentoring, and troubleshooting.
• Work with AWS/cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, databases, and deployment architecture.
• Use modern AI-assisted development / agentic engineering tools to accelerate software delivery.

We are looking for a highly experienced hands-on Lead Backend Engineer / Lead Consultant with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, system design, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations.

This is not a pure architect or people-management role. The ideal candidate should be able to design complex backend systems, lead technical delivery, work across multiple teams, and still personally contribute to development and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications

• Deep System Design / Software Architecture expertise.
• Strong Microservices and Distributed Systems background.
• Excellent REST API and enterprise integration experience.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, performance tuning, caching, resiliency, and fault tolerance.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Proven experience leading engineers while remaining technically hands-on.
• Experience driving complex projects across multiple teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred

• Code-generation frameworks or developer productivity platforms.
• MongoDB / Redis / relational databases.
• Observability and production troubleshooting.
• AI-assisted development using tools/frameworks such as Claude, Cursor, LangChain, LangGraph, Spring AI, RAG, MCP, agents, or similar technologies.
