Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Sr. Principal Optomechanical Engineer to join the Electro-Optics Group within Launch Vehicles. You will design mechanical assemblies for imaging and sensing systems and perform STOP/SILOS analyses.

This role requires strong CAD skills (Creo/NX/SolidWorks) and experience with optical imaging across bands; active DoD Secret clearance is required. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to environmental testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Optical Engineering or related field; required experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application.
• Experience with opto-mechanical design and precision alignment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and optical imaging systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design optical assemblies, mounts, and structures for imaging systems.
• Perform STOP and SILOS analyses to ensure performance.
• Create parametric 3D CAD models and drawings.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams; support environmental testing.
• Support design reviews and root-cause analysis.
