Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Sr. Principal Optical Subsystem I&T Engineer to lead the integration and testing of electro-optical subsystems for seeker systems.

The role requires coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, developing test plans, and ensuring performance at subassembly and system levels. The ideal candidate has a DoD Secret clearance, extensive EO design/test experience, and strong analytical and communication skills to drive reliability and continuous

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical Eng, Physics, EE, Mech, or related field with 8+ years experience.
• DoD Secret clearance active at application.
• Experience with EO imaging systems (visible to LWIR) including optical design and test.
• Experience maintaining/calibrating optical test equipment for accuracy.
• Proficiency with free-space alignment tools and hands-on integration of hardware.
• Ability to work independently and lead cross-disciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in integration and testing of electro-optical subsystems.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and test cases from system requirements.
• Oversee hardware, software, and firmware integration for timelines.
• Execute complex tests, analyze data, verify performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive technical growth.
• Champion root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
• Prepare test reports for program stakeholders.
• Maintain and calibrate optical test equipment.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and program management.
• Ensure compliance with safety and government standards.
• Pursue continuous improvement in testing practices.
