Job summary

Photon Queue Inc. in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Senior Optomechanical Engineer to own the precision optical hardware program for its New Mexico branch.

This hands-on, end-to-end role sources, builds, characterizes, and optimizes optical and mechanical subassemblies and locks down repeatable processes for Chicago manufacturing. You will work at the intersection of precision optomechanics, metrology, and supply chain, with output measured in device performance that ships.

Qualifications

• MS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or a BS with substantial experience.
• High proficiency in CAD (Onshape, SolidWorks, Catia, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of tolerance stack‑up analysis, kinematics, adhesive and material selection.
• Track record working with component vendors and contract manufacturers to specify, source, and qualify custom hardware.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting at design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of custom optical subassemblies from sourcing to final assembly.
• Design and build precision alignment and assembly tooling for repeatable results.
• Drive improvements in optical performance and production yield across runs.
