Job summary

Gooch & Housego Keene is seeking a senior engineer to assemble, align, test, and configure light‑tight opto‑mechanical components in a clean room environment. You will integrate with optical and mechanical teams to deliver precise assemblies and validated designs.

Responsibilities include designing, testing, and validating opto‑mechanical systems, interpreting drawings, and ensuring compliance with ITAR/CUI and manufacturing requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years performing opto-mechanical design and development of optical systems layout and tolerancing.
• Experience in Opto-mechanical engineering, Optical Systems, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), ITAR/CUI handling, and precision manufacturing design.
• Demonstrated ability to query a team to choose technical approaches and communicate updates across levels.
• Able to blend analytical thinking with practical judgment for decisions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, propose designs, troubleshoot, and perform quality control on opto‑mechanical systems.
• Design, analyze, and test opto‑mechanical assemblies and subsystems.
• Develop detailed mechanical and opto‑mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Collaborate with optical and mechanical engineers for integration.
• Assess feasibility, time, and cost constraints; perform system tests and integration.
