Atom Computing, Inc. in Boulder, CO, is seeking a Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer to lead opto-mechanical subsystem design, fixturing, assembly, alignment, test, and integration. You will guide cross-functional teams, set design standards, and ensure high-precision optical alignment and thermal performance.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to technical documentation and IP, plan roadmaps, manage vendor relations, and help scale operations while delivering robust, manufacturable hardware.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years opto-mechanical design experience and 8+ years optics assembly in a lab.
• Mastery of SolidWorks, PDM or equivalent; experience with DFMA.

Responsabilidades

• Initiate and lead design of complex opto-mechanical systems and ultra-high vacuum chambers.
• Collaborate across engineering domains to define product requirements and lifecycle.
• Architect robust mechanical solutions for optical assemblies with high alignment stability.
• Enforce design standards, lead design reviews, and drive manufacturability.
• Provide leadership for hands-on assembly, alignment, and system integration.
• Mentor juniors, create training materials, and standardize engineering practices.
• Contribute to roadmap planning, resource assessments, and IP generation.
• Oversee external vendors and manage critical deliverables.
