Job summary

Monarch Quantum in San Diego is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 4 to help scale hardware foundations, building robust opto-mechanical assemblies and leading design reviews with leadership.

You will design and test laser systems, perform thermal and vibration analyses, and mentor junior engineers while embracing a startup mindset. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role with significant impact on product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant startup/tech experience.
• Deep knowledge of photonics, opto-mechanical assemblies and laser systems.
• Experience with CAD, FEA, thermal and vibration analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of opto-mechanical assemblies.
• Develop laser systems and photonic products for free space and fiber outputs.
• Perform thermal, structural, and vibration modeling of complex opto-mechanical assemblies.
• Design of flexures for precision motion of optical elements.
• Engineering analysis to understand how loads and environmental factors affect performance.
• Design and setup optical metrology and perform engineering tests and design of experiments.
• Work independently and in a team while mentoring junior engineers.
• Execute complex engineering tasks with planning, data collection and peer-reviewed documentation.
• Maintain data quality, adhere to best practices and clear communication.
