Job summary

Monarch Quantum in San Diego seeks a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to build and lead a high‑performing team as we scale. This hands‑on startup role partners with cross‑functional leaders to define mechanics, test strategies, and transition complex laser and photonic systems to production.

You will set and enforce engineering processes, drive DFx standards, and mentor engineers through development, verification, and validation cycles, while ensuring projects meet schedule and budget and align

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in startup or technology environments.
• Proven record of building and leading engineering teams.
• Experience with opto-mechanical systems and robotics.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, develop and manage a team of mechanical engineers.
• Contribute to design, integration, verification and production transition for laser/photonic systems.
• Create and maintain mechanical engineering processes and tools.
• Execute mechanical projects from requirements to verification and qualification.
• Plan and execute company projects with cross-functional leadership on schedule and budget.
