Job summary

Monarch Quantum in San Diego, CA, seeks a Multi‑Disciplinary Engineer 4 (Electro‑Optics‑Lasers) to build core hardware capabilities from the ground up. This hands‑on role spans multiple disciplines, requiring practical skills in several engineering fields and strong proficiency in at least one.

The incumbent will design, validate and iterate laser hardware, with 8+ years of experience and a Master’s degree. Employment is full‑time with a comprehensive benefits package in a fast‑moving startup.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in hardware, lasers and startup environments.
• Hands-on experience with high‑power lasers and beam modulation.
• Experience in design validation through real‑world testing.
• Extensive high-growth startup exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate and test high‑precision laser hardware.
• Develop system simulations and validation experiments.
• Collaborate across electrical, mechanical and optical teams to scale hardware capabilities.
