Job summary

Vuzix seeks a senior optical test and characterization expert to oversee the characterization and test lab. You will maintain existing tests, develop new QA/QC procedures, and collaborate with customers and vendors on optical testing across displays, projectors, waveguides, and imaging systems.

The role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and experience guiding cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred for advanced roles.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a research or product design environment.

Responsibilities

• Characterize and test micro-displays, projector systems, optical subsystems, and near-eye systems.
• Develop and implement new test methods and procedures for R&D, QA, and production.
• Create and maintain detailed test documentation and data records.
• Collaborate with QA and Production to establish inspection procedures and validation methods.
• Identify, procure, set up, and maintain test and measurement equipment.
• Analyze test results and develop corrective actions for product/process issues.
• Provide senior optical engineering guidance on testing and characterization.
