Job summary

Vuzix Corporation is seeking an experienced optical engineering professional to oversee the characterization and test lab. You will develop new test procedures to support QA, R&D, and production, document tests, and collaborate with customers and vendors on optical testing.

Leadership, strong communication, and hands-on problem solving are essential for this role. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years in optical design or research environments, familiarity with Zemax, and proven ability

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
Familiarity with Zemax optical design software.
Experience with optical test equipment and measurement techniques.

Responsibilities

Characterize and test micro-displays, projector systems, optical subsystems, and full near-eye systems.
Develop and implement new test methods for research, development, QA, and production needs.
Create and maintain detailed test documentation and data records.
Collaborate with QA and Production to establish inspection and in-process validation methods.
Identify, procure, set up, and maintain test and measurement equipment.
Analyze test results and develop corrective actions for product/process issues.
Provide senior optical engineering guidance on testing and characterization.
