Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the Space Technologies division is seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer to help develop advanced space-based systems, including opto-mechanical laser communications and spacecraft electronics.

You will own assigned systems-engineering activities and collaborate with program leadership. The role emphasizes requirements development, interface control, verification planning, and cross-functional integration with electrical, mechanical, optical, software, and thermal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field.
• 2+ years in systems engineering or related disciplines.
• Experience with aerospace/defense environments recommended.
• Strong writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system and subsystem requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces across electrical, mechanical, optical, software, and thermal disciplines.
• Review designs for alignment with requirements and interfaces.
• Develop ConOps and system-level documentation.
• Participate in design reviews for spacecraft electrical systems.
• Create and manage verification strategies and artifacts.
• Plan and execute verification activities, including tests and analyses.
• Prepare technical documentation and guidance.
