At Applied Materials’ CTO office, we are developing optical interconnect solutions for the next generation hyperscale computing and AI/ML. You will be working with a highly capable international team to develop advanced photonics packaging solutions.
You will lead optomechanical design, optical sub-assembly design, micro optics, fixture, and tooling development, aiming for micron-level assembly accuracy.
You are expected to design/develop multi-fiber optical connectors and collaborate with external vendors to develop the connector ecosystem.
You should be familiar with materials used in photonics, including glass, epoxy, silicon, and related materials.
Your daily activities include working with 3D solid models, drawings, documentation using GD&T principles, performing tolerance analyses, thermal, structural/stress, and vibration analyses, assessing designs against environmental requirements, and conducting test and verification efforts.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and operations personnel to develop solutions that adhere to DFT and DFM requirements.
Successful candidates will have an MS or Ph.D. in optics or mechanical engineering, with industrial experience in optical communication industries.
You should have expert knowledge in optomechanical design, SolidWorks or ProE, GD&T, ASME 14.5, and understanding of FEA using tools like Ansys Mechanical and Icepak.
You must be able to work in a high-paced, dynamic environment and possess excellent communication skills.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and 7-10 years of work experience.
Salary range in the U.S. is $138,000 - $183,500, with additional benefits and potential for bonuses and stock awards.
