Job summary

Kaye/Bassman International is seeking a Sr. Optical-Mechanical Engineering Manager for a growing medical device company in the Boston area. The role blends hands-on design with team leadership to drive complex optical-mechanical systems from concept through manufacturing transfer.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in medical devices, strong SolidWorks and Zemax skills, and a track record of leading cross-functional teams through design validation and regulatory milestones.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a BSME, MSME preferred.
• Extensive experience in design and packaging of systems and devices.
• Experience leading engineering teams in medical devices.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Mechanical Engineering group.
• Serve as technical lead and mentor to Mechanical Engineering staff.
• Lead development of complex medical devices through all development phases.
• Develop product specifications with marketing and customers.
• Coordinate transfer of products to customers or distributors, including analyzing complaints.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, CE marking, and other regulatory requirements.
