Job summary

Nova Biomedical is seeking a Staff Optical Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, verification, and validation of optical subsystems for biomedical devices. You will guide cross-functional teams across imaging, spectroscopy, and opto-mechanical design and mentor junior engineers.

The ideal candidate will translate design inputs into subsystem requirements, develop robust production methods, and drive design validation from prototype to product.

Qualifications

• BS in Optical Engineering or related field required.
• MS preferred in a related discipline.
• 8+ years developing optical subsystems for instrumentation/medical devices.
• Experience with cross-functional integration of optical subsystems.
• Hands-on optical hardware development including alignment and testing.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into optical subsystem requirements.
• Maintain design documentation for optical subsystems.
• Lead or support optical subsystem architecture for imaging, spectroscopy, and sensing.
• Define interfaces with mechanical, electrical, software, and analytical subsystems.
• Plan and execute optical testing, DOEs, and verification studies.
