Job summary

Nova Measuring Instruments in Austin, Texas is seeking an Optical Engineer to lead the optics team’s development of high-end metrology tools. The role covers theory, experiments, and cross-disciplinary integration across optics, algorithms, mechanics, and software.

You will own end-to-end system solutions, drive architecture and validation, mentor engineers, and work in a fast-paced, global environment. Travel to customers is possible as needed.

Qualifications

• Experimental and theoretical research in real-world systems.
• Own system-level development and integration across disciplines.
• Advanced data analysis and modeling (signal processing, data interpretation).
• Experience with optics, ellipsometry, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Proactive, self-driven in high-ambiguity environments.

Responsibilities

• Theoretical and experimental study of new system methods and algorithms to support state-of-the-art solutions.
• Define, drive, and own end-to-end implementation and validation of system solutions across disciplines.
• Lead system architecture definition and performance budgeting.
• Drive cross-functional technical decisions across optics, algorithms, mechanics, and SW.
• Serve as technical focal point for system-level trade-offs and escalations.
• Mentor junior engineers and researchers in system thinking and methodology.
• Hands-on tool experiments and testing in clean-room environment.
• Lead cross-functional teams (HW, SW, algorithms) to deliver coherent system-level solutions.
• Data and statistical analysis.
• Algorithm development and performance testing.
