Job summary

GRVTY is seeking a Senior Scientist to support research, algorithm development, and advanced analytics for OPIR and EO/IR sensing systems at a Customer site in Herndon, Virginia. You will work with engineers, data scientists, and analysts to apply physics-based models and image science methods to mission-driven tasks.

The role focuses on target detection, tracking, and characterization, with emphasis on validation, reproducible logs, and rapid response to evolving priorities.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain SCI polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in Image Science, Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on OPIR experience in EO/IR phenomenology or sensor assessment.
• Experience with image processing and DSP tools for SWIR/MWIR data.
• Experience applying algorithms for target detection and suppression in OPIR/EOIR.
• Familiarity with multi-data stream ingest and analysis techniques.
• Working knowledge of the TCPED process for OPIR collection & exploitation.
• Strong documentation and communication skills for technical reports and briefings.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D of advanced OPIR/EO-IR algorithms for sensor systems.
• Design, implement, and evaluate algorithms including calibration and noise models.
• Analyze optical signature data to extract phenomenology and insights.
• Conduct multi-platform remote sensing analytics across varied sensors.
• Support TCPED from tasking to dissemination.
• Validate analytic products for accuracy and relevance; identify gaps.
• Maintain reproducible analysis logs detailing methods and results.
• Respond to real-time EO/IR requests and adapt to priorities.
• Test new algorithms and tools; contribute to trade studies.
• Prepare technical briefings and written reports for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to analytic standards.
