Position Summary
The Senior Operations Manager will manage and oversee all building and event operations in the facility from the setup of event through the end of the event. The position will oversee recruitment, training, and evaluation of all operations and housekeeping staff; coordinate communication between the event department and delegate assignments; be responsible for and ensure overall upkeep of the facility.
This role will pay between $52,000-$62,000.

About the Venue
Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, is a versatile venue that serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Santander Arena hosts various live events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and family-friendly events, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
Responsibilities
- Manage all services and activities involved in the operations department at Santander Arena & Performing Arts Center.
- Perform and oversee day-to-day building operations, maintenance, and special projects.
- Oversee the Operations team including all third-party operations staff.
- Operate Zamboni ice resurfacer, board edger, and forklift; oversee ice maintenance including maintaining depth and quality on game days for the Reading Royals.
- Handle ice sheet installation and removal, including paint, logos/decals, flooding, and leveling.
- Assist the event department with rider specifications, ensuring all setups are completed and set to specifications in data sheets.
- Oversee and monitor changeovers, operations, and housekeeping crews; provide team support as required.
- Maintain and oversee departmental equipment; notify the Director of Operations as additional equipment is needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients to foster a positive employee atmosphere.
- Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure proper budget management.
- Oversee all purchases of housekeeping supplies and safety equipment for third-party vendors.
- Present operations department reviews in weekly staff meetings.
- Deliver timely and accurate information to operations staff for proper setup and breakdown of the facility.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, including riding on and walking behind floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and lawn equipment.
- Oversee all production equipment, including maintenance and repair as necessary.
- Ensure preventative maintenance of seating and other facilities.
- Facilitate event load-ins and load-outs, often during early mornings or late evenings.
- Communicate promptly with the Director of Operations.
- Respond to requests from tenants or refer them to the Director of Operations.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and operations managers for upkeep of dressing rooms, locker rooms, and interior painting.
- Schedule third-party staff and ensure proper staffing for events.
- Interact professionally with other facility staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Technical degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in facility events and operations management.
- Related experience/training in the public assembly industry, with supervisory or management roles.
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended days.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and control.
- Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of hockey facility operations, including Zamboni and ice edger, preferred.
- Understanding of event operations, crowd management, safety regulations, and food service practices.
- Experience with concert setup, basketball, hockey, or special events preferred.
- Self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
