Job purpose
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management of one or more functional areas within manufacturing operations. Will be accountable for establishing and achieving objectives and targets in EH&S, quality, productivity, cost, inventory, and project management within their areas of responsibility
Duties and responsibilities
- Develops operating plans and budgets in accordance with the annual Sales plan by department and product category.
- Coordinates, directs, and evaluates the activities of production management and staff.
- Ensures adequate resources are provided for training and development in each department.
- Develops improvement plans for safety, quality, productivity, and cost and establishes KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for each area.
- Monitors departmental performance to established targets, and reports progress to the VP of Operations and other executive management.
- Works to develop direct reports through coaching and mentoring; identifies and develops internal talent for next level opportunities.
- Champions cost reduction and quality improvement efforts while engaging management and staff in problems solving.
- Ensures accurate process, production, and inventory data are captured, monitored and maintained.
- Identifies, Manages, and Implements improvement projects throughout area of responsibility; drives teamwork and cooperation on projects as a supporting team member.
- Communicates and works closely with other departments throughout the facility to ensure support activities are adequately executed in subject areas.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field required (i.e. Engineering or Science). Commensurate work experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
- >10 years of manufacturing management experience
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in operations planning, project management, and KPI development.
- Financial acumen with direct experience in budget development and cost management.
- Experience managing a continuous web coating operation or other continuous web-based process (i.e. paper or film coating, extrusion coating, lamination, converting)
- Strong leadership skills and a track record of identifying and developing talent within the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively up and down the organization.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Microsoft Office skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to Safety and Quality
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has management responsibilities for all staff in the operational area. Direct supervisory responsibilities for operational leadership roles
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in an office setting and on a production floor. You will use computers and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc.
- Able to work in high pace manufacturing environment
Safety Requirements
- Ability to wear required PPE (including safety glasses, gloves (nitrile, canvas, etc.), hearing protection, ANSI-approved footwear, and others as required.) in any manufacturing area.
