General Description:
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management of the department operations. Accountable for establishing and achieving performance objectives and targets in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and inventory management.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Authority:
- Develops operating plans and budgets for multiple departments in accordance with the annual Sales plan by product category.
- Coordinates, directs, and evaluates the activities of production management and staff.
- Ensures adequate resources are provided for training and development in each department.
- Develops improvement plans for safety, quality, productivity, and cost, and establishes KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for each area.
- Monitors departmental performance against established targets and reports progress to executive management.
- Works to develop direct reports through coaching and mentoring; identifies and develops internal talent for next-level opportunities.
- Champions cost reduction and quality improvement efforts while engaging management and staff in problem-solving.
- Ensures accurate process, production, and inventory data are captured, monitored, and maintained.
- Communicates and collaborates closely with other departments to ensure support activities are effectively executed.
- Performs other projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering or Science) required; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- 10 or more years of manufacturing management experience.
- Proven experience in operations planning and KPI development.
- Financial acumen with experience in budget development and cost management.
- Effective communication skills up and down the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership skills with a track record of talent development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated commitment to Safety and Quality.
Other Details:
- Hazardous waste training within 6 months of employment and annually thereafter.
- Serve as the Alternate Emergency Coordinator.
