Job summary

Californians Together seeks an Operations Director to lead finance, HR, administration, and compliance. You will partner with the Executive Director on strategy, build scalable systems, and oversee internal processes and external vendors to ensure sustainability and program excellence.

You will supervise 3-5 staff and coordinate with partners while maintaining robust financial governance, risk management, and people practices aligned to the mission.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, finance, admin, or people ops.
• Experience overseeing finance and HR functions, including budgeting and reporting.
• Experience managing outsourced service providers (accounting, payroll, PEOs, auditors).
• Strong financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and internal controls.
• Strong HR operations, employment compliance, and policy governance.
• Proven ability to design and improve systems in growing organizations.
• Excellent project management and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to translate data for non-operational stakeholders.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and mission-driven leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership of core operations, finance, HR, admin, and compliance.
• Partner with ED and leadership to translate strategy into operational plans.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
• Manage outsourced accounting and HR vendors; ensure compliance.
• Lead risk assessment and internal controls; maintain policies and procedures.
• Develop and monitor organizational systems to support growth.
• Support board materials and external partner communications.
