Job summary

Common Market SE is seeking a General Manager for the Philadelphia distribution center. You will oversee inbound receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, and on-time delivery.

This hands-on leader develops staff, manages costs, and drives continuous improvement across warehouse and fleet operations. The role requires extensive experience in food-handling environments, strong budgeting acumen, and the ability to partner with Sales and Support to meet customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• 7–12+ years in operations, logistics, or distribution with 3–5+ years leading frontline teams.
• Experience in a food-handling environment; direct food distribution or perishable operations strongly preferred.
• Experience overseeing drivers, transportation operations, and fleet maintenance; refrigerated trucking preferred.
• Working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, FSMA, or comparable food-safety systems and audit processes.
• Experience managing operational budgets and financial performance at site level.
• Ability to lead multiple functions in a lean operation with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead receiving, storage, picking, packing, staging, and shipment of fresh, perishable products with safe handling and cold-chain practices.
• Maintain inventory accuracy, product rotation, traceability, and controls to limit shrink, spoilage, and waste.
• Manage warehouse staffing, workflow, productivity, and service-level performance.
• Oversee procurement coordination, inventory availability, and product flow with Sales and Support to meet customer commitments.
• Direct route execution, driver scheduling, dispatch, and on-time delivery.
• Oversee fleet maintenance, inspections, repairs, DOT compliance, and cost management.
