Job summary

The Common Market is seeking a General Manager to lead the Chicago distribution facility, overseeing warehouse operations, trucking, food safety, and frontline team leadership. You will drive performance, build strong teams, and ensure alignment with safety, cost, and service goals.

Ideal candidates bring 7–12+ years in operations with 3–5+ years leading teams, deep food-safety knowledge (SQF/HACCP/FSMA), and a track record of cross-functional collaboration in a lean, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7–12+ years of experience in operations, logistics, or distribution.
• 3–5+ years managing frontline or supervisory teams.
• Experience in food handling environments required.
• SQF, HACCP, FSMA, or equivalent experience required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own overall performance of the Chicago facility, including safety, service levels, productivity, and cost control.
• Oversee warehouse activities to ensure efficient and accurate product flow.
• Manage routing, delivery performance, and fleet coordination.
• Maintain strong food safety systems and compliance (SQF, HACCP, FSMA).
• Develop and manage site-level labor and operating budgets with accountability for cost performance.
• Lead and develop supervisors, warehouse staff, and drivers; build staffing plans.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Support, and National Operations to drive improvements.
