Santa Barbara Botanic Garden seeks an Assistant Director of Operations to lead daily operations of the 78-acre public garden in Santa Barbara. This senior management role partners with the Director of Horticulture & Operations to manage facilities projects, supervise Operations staff, oversee IT administration, budgets, and capital planning.

The successful candidate will coordinate with Maintenance, Retail and Guest Services, manage vendor contracts, ensure safety, and guide strategic direction

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in facilities management, operations, project coordination, construction administration, property management, or related field.
• Three+ years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with budgeting, purchasing, invoice processing, and expense tracking.
• Conversational Spanish ability preferred.
• College degree in related field preferred (equivalent experience may be substituted).

Responsabilités

• Lead Operations Managers and staff, setting work priorities and allocating resources.
• Oversee IT MSP contract and cybersecurity posture; support staff via help desk and strategic IT projects.
• Coordinate contracts, vendors, and external partners; monitor scope, safety, and compliance.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets and capital planning; monitor expenditures.
• Attend routine leadership meetings and cross-departmental committees; liaise between directors and staff.
