Job summary

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden seeks an Assistant Director of Operations to lead daily operations, IT administration, and capital projects in a 78-acre public garden. You will work with the Director of Horticulture & Operations to guide Retail and Guest Services programs and supervise staff across Maintenance, Retail, and Guest Services.

This senior management role requires strong leadership, budgeting, vendor management, and project coordination skills, with an emphasis on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of facilities management, operations, project coordination, or related field.
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Experience budgeting, purchasing, invoicing, and expense tracking.
• Conversational Spanish ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of Operations Managers and staff.
• Lead IT MSP contract management and cybersecurity posture.
• Oversee facilities contracts, budgeting, and capital planning.
• Coordinate projects, vendors, and safety programs across campus.
• Maintain records, reports, and department communications.
