Job summary

Celestica in the United States is seeking a senior commodity engineer with extensive experience in managing electronic component quality. You will drive quality improvements through defect monitoring, corrective actions, and supplier audits, interfacing with customers and suppliers on complex issues, and reviewing component specs for viable alternate parts to reduce costs and alleviate shortages.

The role requires leading projects, traveling to suppliers as needed, and applying SPC and ISO

Qualifications

• Six to eight years relevant experience.
• Experience managing electronic component quality and supplier quality.
• Defect monitoring, reporting and corrective actions.
• Supplier audits and risk assessments.
• Proficiency with SPC and quality methodologies.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, TS16949 and ISO 13485 standards.

Responsibilities

• Documents, maintains and improves implementation of processes.
• Provides advanced technical expertise for production problems.
• Maintains quality of materials to meet cost and delivery targets.
• Visits suppliers to evaluate process controls and reliability programs.
• Provides quality data to suppliers and internal management.
• Performs supplier assessments and makes supplier strategy recommendations.
• Works with suppliers to improve yield and material quality.
• Gathers and analyzes data to solve quality issues and drive root cause analysis.
