Job summary

Nix is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to join our team in Boston. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and automate infrastructure to keep our production environments reliable and scalable.

The role emphasizes scripting in Python/Bash, cloud familiarity (Azure/AWS), and collaboration with engineers to improve runbooks, SOPs, and incident response. A 6-month engagement with potential extension, remote/office-flexible.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in IT, system administration, or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of operating systems, networking, or cloud technologies.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, or cloud platforms.
• Exposure to automation tools or practices.

Responsibilities

• System Monitoring & Support: Monitor system health and performance, respond to alerts, and resolve issues to ensure reliable operations.
• Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Operational Tasks: Perform software updates, system patching, and manage user access.
• Automation: Identify opportunities for automation and contribute to scripting and tools development under guidance.
• Collaboration: Work with team members to ensure operational best practices are followed and continuously improved.
