The Senior Accountant II will be responsible for calculating monthly Capex accruals, reviewing, analyzing, and understanding monthly gross and net Capex, and providing internal reporting to Operations and Accounting leadership. This role requires strong attention to detail, research skills, high accuracy, effective communication, and quick adaptation to new concepts. The accountant will also support automation efforts to improve the capital accrual process.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Calculate and record monthly Capex accruals in collaboration with operations teams.
2. Provide analysis on capital expenditures and guidance on accounting treatment to Operations teams and others within accounting, utilizing general understanding of oil and gas accounting concepts.
3. Evaluate Capex projects for potential coding errors and provide corrections.
4. Compile variance analysis for monthly Capex accruals and Capex incurred to improve business performance and operational decisions.
5. Communicate complex oil and gas accounting concepts effectively across teams.
6. Assist with preparing monthly Capex presentations and present financial results to operational and accounting management teams.
7. Collaborate with accounting and other organizational units for projects as needed.
8. Manage and assist with various AFE requests.
9. Support and advise team members on complex issues or projects.
10. Perform other duties, ad hoc projects, analyses, or reviews as required.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree (BBA or BS) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
2. At least 5+ years of Oil and Gas accounting experience.
3. Proven experience in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (5+ years).
4. Strong understanding of oil and gas accounting principles in accordance with GAAP.

Preferred Qualifications

1. SAP experience preferred.
2. 8+ years of Oil and Gas accounting experience preferred.
3. High accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
5. Experience with automation tools such as Spotfire, SQL, Snowflake, etc.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Continuous improvement mindset.
8. Flexible workload and priorities.
9. Quick learner of new concepts.
10. Effective communication skills across organizational levels.
11. Positive, team-oriented attitude.
