Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function).
• Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Extensive experience in process governance.
• Understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards.
• Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.
• Strong understanding of IT Risk Management practices.
• Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship.
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous (preferred qualifications).
• Preferred experience in consulting, large-scale project management, risk reduction prioritization, data-driven executive reporting, process risk reduction, root cause analysis, risk analytics and trending analysis, process-change monitoring, and financial services

Responsibilities

• Progress targeted platform product framework components through collaboration with key stakeholders
• Formulate scalable solutions aligned with industry practices
• Develop complementary ways of working across business and platform teams
• Formally document relevant guidance
• Support guidance development for platform product modernization and migration activities
• Manage Process Risk project deliverables against accelerated timelines and across multiple stakeholders
• Develop reporting and analytics to identify emerging risks and risk-reduction opportunities
• Support identification and prioritization of strategic Process Risk initiatives
• Independently support resolution of high-risk issues, significant process improvements, and control enhancements
• Document learnings, insights, better practices, and themes across the enterprise
• Foster risk awareness and ongoing improvement within the team and broader organization
