Job summary

Leidos is seeking an OpenShift Enterprise Architect to lead end-to-end architecture, governance, and lifecycle management for a complex on-prem OpenShift environment supporting NASA OSI/FRED workloads.

The role requires 8+ years of senior-level experience in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Linux, with certification and strong automation skills. You will drive security, monitoring, and multicluster strategies across the organization, ensuring scalable, compliant platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering.
8+ years of combined OpenShift, Kubernetes, and/or Linux experience.
Must have a current RedHat OpenShift Administration certification or able to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
Proficient in OpenShift administration, including cluster management, application deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and patching.
Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts and principles.
Solid experience with Linux operating systems and system administration tasks.
Experience with container technologies and container orchestration platforms.
Knowledge of networking concepts such as DNS, load balancing, and security.
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues within the OpenShift environment.
Python scripting for automation and system management.
Excellent verbal and written communication across business and technical teams.
Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Define the end-to-end architecture for the enterprise OpenShift platform, including cluster topology, node architecture, compute/storage strategy, and HA patterns.
Develop and maintain lifecycle plans, deployment workflows, and CM baselines.
Establish architectural standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns for containerized workloads.
Lead platform capacity planning, scalability modelling, and performance optimization initiatives.
Design on-prem and hybrid OpenShift environments including installation, upgrades, and multi-cluster governance.
Oversee cluster objects governance (namespaces, RBAC, quotas, policies).
Ensure security policies, zero-trust controls, and certificate management across clusters.
Provide architectural oversight for application onboarding and workload migrations.
Produce architectural diagrams, executive briefings, governance docs, and decision packages.
Highlight platform enhancements and modernization paths.
