Job summary

NACCO Natural Resources is seeking an experienced mining engineer to lead mid- to long-range open-pit planning and scheduling for current operations and growth opportunities. You will apply practical mining methods, develop plans, and communicate results to stakeholders.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least eight years of related experience; advanced degrees or PE license are highly desirable. Proficiency in Micromine, Vulcan, Carlson, Talpac, and Excel is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have an engineering degree and at least eight years of related experience.
• Master’s degree in Mining, Geological Engineering or related certifications may be considered for experience requirements.
• Professional Engineering License / Technical Report Qualified Person registration highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Develop practical open-pit mining methods, mine plans, production schedules, and sequence mine volumetrics.
• Hands-on experience with short-, mid-, and long-range open-pit mine planning and scheduling.
• Calculate reserve and quality estimates using geologic and mine models.
• Analyze equipment systems for new or existing mines.
• Calculate total costs for mining projects including equipment numbers and hours, labor and supply costs, and other associated capital and operating expenditures.
• Write reports using engineering results and analysis.
• Prepare maps, cross sections, tables, and other graphics to supplement the preparation of presentations.
• Assist in evaluating economic alternatives involving mining methods, equipment purchases and other capital expenditures.
• Interface with vendors, sales representatives, customers
• Provide engineering and technical assistance to existing mines
