Job description

Safety isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are.

At Martin Concrete Construction, safety goes beyond hard hats and checklists. It’s about people, leadership, accountability, and doing the right thing every day, on every jobsite.

We’re currently looking for a Senior Onsite Safety Coordinator – Critical Projects Group (CPG) who not only understands safety but knows how to lead it. This role supports complex, fast-paced projects within our Critical Projects Group, where strong field leadership, attention to detail, consistency, accountability, and proactive safety management are essential.

As a Senior Onsite Safety Coordinator, you will serve as a key safety leader on active construction projects, working closely with Superintendents, project teams, subcontractors, General Contractors, Onsite Safety Coordinators, and Safety leadership. In addition to driving safety performance in the field, you’ll help mentor and develop onsite safety team members while promoting a culture where safety is owned by everyone.

This is a Georgia-based, onsite field position primarily supporting active construction projects throughout North Georgia, with travel to out-of-state projects as needed. Candidates must be able to report directly to assigned project sites on a daily basis.

If you’re a confident safety professional who enjoys being in the field, developing others, solving problems in real time, and leading safety in demanding construction environments, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the lead onsite safety professional, supporting Superintendents and project teams
  • Oversee and enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Conduct and document weekly safety inspections and ensure timely submission of reports
  • Identify hazards, perform daily risk assessments, and take immediate corrective action when needed
  • Act as a competent person onsite, with the authority to stop work and correct unsafe conditions
  • Review and monitor subcontractor safety programs to ensure alignment with project standards
  • Lead and support Toolbox Talks, Stretch & Flex, and daily PTP/JSA meetings in an engaging, team-focused manner
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly and professionally with all levels of the project team
  • Report and manage all incidents, injuries, equipment damage, or theft in accordance with company protocols
  • Coordinate with Safety leadership and Superintendents on corrective actions and safety initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and organized safety documentation, inspections, and compliance records
  • Ensure jobsite readiness, including PPE compliance, safety supplies, and overall site safety conditions
Leadership & Team Development
  • Mentor and support
Onsite Safety Coordinators, helping develop their safety knowledge, confidence, and effectiveness in the field.
  • Assist with the onboarding, training, and development of new safety team members.
  • Provide guidance and support to onsite safety personnel while reinforcing consistent safety expectations and practices.
  • Promote a positive safety culture that encourages participation, communication, ownership, and accountability.
  • Partner with Safety leadership to identify opportunities for continuous improvement across project and company safety programs.
  • Lead by example by building trust, credibility, and strong working relationships with field teams and project leadership.
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 6+ years of construction safety experience (preferred)
  • Holds OSHA 500 certification and First Aid/CPR training
  • Has strong knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety practices
  • Demonstrates leadership, confidence, and sound judgment in fast-paced environments
  • Can effectively coach, mentor, and influence teams at all levels
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Is highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Maintains a solutions-focused, team-first mindset
  • Is comfortable using technology for reporting and documentation (HammerTech, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Experience in areas such as excavation, fall protection, confined space, silica, NFPA 70E, and LOTOTO is strongly preferred.
  • CHST (Certified Health & Safety Technician), STSC (Safety Trained Supervisor Construction), or a similar professional safety certification is strongly preferred.
Work Location & Travel Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel based on project and business needs.
  • Flexibility with work hours depending on jobsite schedules and project demands.
  • Comfortable working onsite daily and maintaining an active presence with crews and project leadership.
  • Ability to report directly to assigned project locations throughout North Georgia and other states as needed.
Physical & Field Requirements

This is an active, field-based leadership position requiring daily presence on construction jobsites. The role regularly includes:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods.
  • Navigating large, active construction sites and uneven terrain.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders and accessing elevated work areas.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching as needed.
  • Working in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • Wearing required PPE at all times.
  • Lifting and carrying safety equipment or materials up to
    50 lbs. as needed.
Why This Role Matters

The Senior Onsite Safety Coordinator plays an important role in strengthening safety performance at both the project and team level. This position goes beyond identifying hazards and enforcing requirements—it’s about developing people, influencing behavior, supporting field leadership, and helping prevent incidents before they occur.

As part of the Critical Projects Group, you’ll support some of Martin Concrete Construction’s most complex and demanding projects while serving as a trusted safety leader in the field. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor and develop other safety professionals, helping create greater consistency, accountability, and safety leadership across our projects.

Your leadership will directly contribute to building a culture where teams look out for one another, safety expectations are understood and respected, and everyone goes home safe.
